Pre-service
NONE mandated by the state. The only pre-placement requirement is an untimed orientation covering agency philosophy and practices, the roles of the foster family, discipline policy, first aid procedures, and applicable statutes. Counties and foster family care agencies commonly require 18 to 24 hours, but that is agency policy, not state rule.
Ongoing continuing education
6 hours a year of agency-approved training — that single sentence is the entire rule, and content is left to agency approval.
Renewal term
Annual; the agency must visit and inspect each foster family yearly for continued compliance.
Kinship difference
No kinship or relative training provision exists anywhere in the chapter; the only accommodation is temporary approval for up to 60 calendar days from placement while the assessment is completed.
Conflict notes
No CPR requirement appears anywhere in the chapter, and the training and approval sections were last substantively amended effective 24 January 1987.
