Pre-service
Content is mandated but NO HOUR FIGURE IS PUBLISHED in statute or rule — hours are set by the DCF-approved curriculum. Do not supply a number. Completed pre-service is valid for five years.
Ongoing continuing education
Set by level. Level II, the standard non-child-specific home, 8 hours a year (1 hour under one rule plus an additional 7 under another). Level I, child-specific and including most licensed kin, 1 hour a year. In-service training on human trafficking is separately required by statute before every renewal.
Renewal term
1 year by default; a 3-year licence is available to homes licensed the previous three consecutive years with no verified findings and clear background checks.
Kinship difference
Handled through Level I child-specific licensure — training is not among the waivable requirements, so the practical difference is the 1-hour annual floor rather than 8.
