Pre-service
Caregiver Core Training, required of at minimum the primary caregiver. NO HOUR FIGURE IS PUBLISHED anywhere in rule or policy — do not supply one. Also required of every adult over 18 providing care: first aid, age-appropriate CPR with an in-person hands-on demonstration, and bloodborne pathogens.
Ongoing continuing education
24 hours every three years, completable by one or both foster parents on a licence in any combination; up to 12 excess hours carry forward.
Renewal term
3 years.
Kinship difference
Kinship Core Training exists, but whether a licensed relative may substitute it for Caregiver Core Training is unresolved.
